Stumbled upon some motivation today…

Thank you Linkedin for sharing this motivational article with me today written by Bill Gross.

This is a great quote from Clay Christensen that I have lived with for the past 30 years since I began starting companies.  I wish there was a simple formula that I could spell out to you that could guide you to “true motivation,” but I don’t have one.  The closest I could come to some solid advice on this subject, however, would be:

To act through authenticity, example, and transparency.

What I mean by that is I that I believe the only way you are going to get someone to follow you is if you are truly authentic yourself about believing in and working toward a shared goal.  People have to see you as passionate and true to take the leap of faith to join your mission.

And second, you need to show people by example, by living that way, whether it’s by working hard, or by executing the tasks in a way that sets the example for others.

Finally, I have found that acting with complete transparency is essential as well - that it’s crucial that everyone knows what is going on - how you are doing - both the good and the bad, so they feel that they are “in the know” and thus part of the same team acting toward the same goal.
